Alison Miller_ Website

Here's my updated website link.

alisonrmiller.photography

For where I am wanting to go with the site- I need to stay on top of keeping it up to date and refreshing the work I show. I also want to create a landing page (like Greta's and Roger's sites) which I am hoping to do real soon.

As for my project, I am hoping that it can carry over into senior show next semester so I can focus on how I am wanting to print and frame the works to display in exhibitions. I am taking the feedback for my artist statement and considering how to incorporate the suggestions into it to make it stronger, which hoping to be done to share with you all on Thursday.

Akira Barnes_ Week 14_early update

Hello everyone, I wanted to share some of the new photos I have shot.

One of the photo sets that I re-did was for two of the asian gods Kagutsuchi (Fire God), Fujin (Wind God), and Thor (God of Thunder). All these images I was considering for my final selects.

For Kagutsuchi I took the class's advice and tried to push the fire idea a little more. As you can see I did change the background to an orange blanket. The only thing that kinda concerns me is how much fabric stands out. I feel that could become a problem.

For Fujin I also changed the backdrop from the I used previously. I felt as though this backdrop's pattern kinda of micmic winds moving and the sky which is why I picked it.

For Thor I was finally able to find a hammer and did some shoots with that.  I also tried using the same background in Fujin's pics as well.

Akira Barnes_Week 12_update

Hello, everyone I know that this is late but I still wanted to share what I worked on during spring break. I was able to go visit a Michaels and found some additional items that could help with my boxes.  Surprisingly, I have still yet to find any small snakes for my medusa box. However I did find a variety of realistic snake stickers that I'm going to try to put to use. I was also able to find other stickers to through into some of my boxes.

I forgot who suggested in class, but I did go out and got some nice card stock and made various symbols like confetti to add to some of the boxes. I did some shoots with these improvements, once I get a chance to look through them I have plans on posting a few.

I'm currently setting up my website using adobe portfolio for the time being it easy to navigate. I'm not sure 100% how to arrange things

Akira Barnes_Week 13_Artist Statement

Hello Everyone, sorry for being M.I.A just been very stressed about classes and graduation. Hope everyone doing well. :)

I have a few different versions of my artist statement. I've been slowly tweaking with the help of Dr. Colaizzi

Artist Statement

Mythological Starter Kits displays abstract portraits of various mythological figures, through the usage of found objects accompanied by prints. The choice to present the contents in gift boxes, was to allude to the fact that the Gods could give gifts and powers to mortals. Working on this body of work was refreshing due to the vast amount of creative freedom I was given, with little to none restrictions. Mythology has always captured my attention, and being able to incorporate that into this body of work. And further expanding my knowledge on the subject also made this project more enjoyable.

Dominick Bellamy Week 13_Artist Statement

Hello, The past week I've just been getting everything prepared as in finding and order picture frames and finishing up my final pictures. I've also worked on an Artist Statement.

Music and art have been around for centuries and are still to an extent undefinable. Over the years, these two subjects have changed drastically, coming with different genres and emotions. With this series I will be conveying these various moods and emotions that come with music. I will also be showing the ineffable side of music using various photographic techniques like double exposures, motion blur, long exposure etc. With each picture I would like to put you inside the world of music.

Alison Miller Week 13_Artist Statement

Hey everyone! I've heard theres been a lot of progress in senior show and am excited to see the show all put together! I know y'all must be getting excited as well and looking forward to graduation :)

For the blog assignment this week was an artist statement rough draft so heres mine;

Food for Thought: Origins is a continuance to a project exploring American culture through cuisine. I continued with the theme by mimicking the 16th-17th century still life paintings and vanitas that feature food as an allegoric reference and boasted the value of food as a correlation to religion, wealth, and even the transience of life to the country of origin. Focus was placed on the evolution and modification caused by society's influence into what is now considered the American staple food. Through my investigation and research, I have observed that much like the American individual, these foods have heritage stemming from other countries and cultures. The images presented offer viewers a perception of historical and contemporary aspects that are encompassed into their basic everyday routine and provokes evaluation of their ancestry that influences their identify.

Let me know what you think and/or any suggestions to make it stronger. See y'all on Wednesday when we get together for the artist talks.
