Crusade part 4

From Goals to Action

Portfolio reviews are designed to create opportunities for photographers that specialize in the visual arts. Before reading this section I was unaware that events such as this one exist. Upon reading more about it, 'FotoFest' was the first review program and was established in the US in 1983. Despite only being around for more than a few decades, it has been extremely beneficial for many photographers over the years. These reviews allow someone new to take a look at a body of work that a photographer is struggling with. This often may mean that the photographer is stuck and is looking for input on how to proceed with the rest of the project. Additionally, these events help photographers who are ready to launch their finished projects, and overall lead to opportunities where photographers can connect to other artists, establish rapport in the photo community, and provide opportunities to funding.
As Jennifer Schwartz concludes in the end of the text, art is what you make it so as an artist your mind holds the power to create. As visionaries it's up to us to continue to contribute to the art world. Moreover, through the opportunities passed on to us it's crucial that we continue to create art so that we may in turn  inspire those to come.
