Update:
I've spent this week and last week creating my website on adobe. It's a bit of a learning curve since I've used wix before and it is definitely not similar in my opinion. Adobe has sample websites so I opened a few of my favorites and took pieces of what I liked to create mine as well as put my own spin. I just need a few more images and I have a big shoot I've been planning this entire semester coming up! This shoot will have studio and outdoor (weather permitting) and will be used to add to my portfolio for portraiture but will also be used to create my composite image.
Here's the link: https://jreye003.myportfolio.com/
I was considering doing an about page but I think my small intro on the front page is enough.
I also would like the page better with a logo and professionally I think I would need a watermark so I am considering making myself one.
The schedule lists "framing exercises" but there aren't any in blackboard assignments, the syllabus, or the schedule so I'm not sure what that entailed since there weren't any instructions given. So, I googled it and I read the first three options that popped up. They were an interesting read in the sense of some of the images I personally feel would not have fared well in our critiques in class. Some of the framing examples used walls for example and they were cut off so one could argue that it was just distracting to an image. Others used framing to really zone in on the subject so there was a LOT of negative space and was another example of a complaint or critique I could see happening. It did make me realize however that I need to think of the basics and cores of photography more often when I'm shooting to get better images rather than think purely of a certain feel I want or hyper-focusing on that ONE composition that I wanted.
Last week I missed a post but to answer those questions:
- The purpose of my site is to show off my work to potential clients being schools. I could see myself finding a way to also merge it into a site to take on clients for business work or freelance but for now it is for employers.
- I am enjoying the layout for the most part it just feels empty to me in that I should have more on the home page. However, I don't want to put unnecessary photos or info on my page.
- I like my color scheme and my idea to include show works. I dislike there only being two images in there but that's my own fault for neglecting to enter competitions or galleries these days.
