First order of business - my website is Kerry Kilburn Photography I welcome your feedback - if nothing else, this is the first time I've tried to use anything as complicated as Zenfolio, so I won't be surprised to hear that there are glitches I haven't caught!
Second, I went shooting again today with the goal of trying to nail down some images that have been eluding me, and filling in some blanks. Because it had just rained and was an overcast day, the colors in the park were really popping, especially the greens. At this point in the process, I'm definitely thinking of the series as representing ghosts of the park, with the ghosts falling into three groups: Native Americans, African Americans, and European Americans. I'll be contemplating this more as I work on my artist talk for Wednesday - but will be working all summer to refine this so I can use it for senior show in the fall, so I'm trying not to freak out about the fact that I haven't completely figured it out yet :)
As always, images aren't edited, and all feedback is welcome.

Cool! Yeah you're right, that soft-box look works well for this environment. Heck, all the dang pollen actually creates some neat textures in the water, particularly in the first image. As for the ones with the artifacts, I liked the image with items propped on the bench - reminiscent of a shrine or memorial. Ghosts: absolutely.
ReplyDeleteAs for the website, I think it looks great. I did notice though that the images were taking awhile to load, so you might want to upload slightly smaller versions.
Most of the versions that I use for the web are no more than 500 to 600 kb, though it does depend on how much the viewer can expand the image (like in a lightbox).
Thanks, Michael - I will check the image size on the website. I do use lower resolution images, but can probably go smaller still. Good catch!
Delete"Week Whatever" haha so true! I am just in awe of the subtle yet risky approach you are taking with this series. I can appreciate it for what it is and not have to give much thought to it. Was this your intention? The tree bark shots are so tastefully done without being overly done, you have an understanding for balance within your photography. Great work
