Jedara Reyes Update 1

As many of you heard, I will be creating a commercial portfolio geared towards my career choice of a Photography/ Art teacher. Here, I will be outlining what photos that portfolio is to be made of. It's been decided to shoot for around 15 photos then try to narrow it down to a final 10.

Portfolio Showcase

  1. Portraiture- focus on showing attention to detail like the eyes and possibly Photoshop expertise by doing touchups
  2. Landscape/ Architecture- focus on taking an image that shows the subject differently than an untrained eye would and/or use techniques that are more advanced. Idea- nighttime star shot
  3. Commercial- images for business use. I plan to do fashion and product. Often, they can stand alone as genres so I may separate them.
  4. Composite- I feel this will be a good way to show I'm adept in Photoshop as well as show a style, creative eye, and taste level
  5. Multi-Media- One of my favorite things to do and what I feel sets me apart is sewing onto my prints
  6. Documentary- This will show that I am able to keep an eye out at all times as well as create a beautiful image on the spot
  7. Family- Commercially, I feel most independent photographers are wedding or family photographers. I feel from a business aspect this can be the most important to master if I wanted to have my own studio or business. Pet photography falls into this category and is quickly gaining popularity so I will do this as well. This may also be enough for two separate categories
  8. Still Life- I feel this exemplifies meticulous planning and set up

  1. This is a good list Jedara. With your portrait, product and still life I would focus on studio lighting. Studio lighting always impresses people. It does not have to be fancy just good. You can use the studio at school. I guess I might narrow this down a little. Start with lighting, make portraits and one other, post them and figure out where to go next....GP

  2. This is a great list of ideas for what you are going to do for your project. I agree with Greta, narrowing down what you are going to shoot for your portfolio would be best. Maybe focus on making portraits and commercial images first and determine where you want to go from there.
