The introduction and part one of the book so far seems like this is going to be an interesting read. I like how she discusses the stages of experimentation, technical competence and stylistic development. I feel like this was a relatable explanation to exploring myself as a photography and trying to discover what I am wanting to do in the long run of being a photographer. I still don't know completely, but am enjoying the exploration of these stages.
Another topic I find interesting is the residency programs she mentions. That first paragraph is completely true right? I felt that being in the academic setting allowed me that time to focus on the work, well because I had to. Outside of that it is hard. Having the time to consider a "residency program" seems unrealistic at the moment, but perhaps a must on my bucket list in the future.
On to Part II!
Hey Alison, I also agree. I think this book is going to be pretty interesting. Regarding the residency programs section you mentioned, I have to agree. I find myself unmotivated outside the academic setting.
