Part II contains a lot of great information. The first section “edit and sequence” had some great points about asking for constructive criticism and how to narrow down the work into a cohesive project, something I know professors, especially Greta has been working with us on continuously.
I found the discussion about websites and social media something that will be useful in the near future as we are about to start working on our websites. I am horrible about promoting myself on social media other than “look what I’ve done recently” and really need to make that effort to separate personal pages from photography pages more clearly (like the author has suggested).
Artist statements- ugh. I found her section about statements helpful. While I have seen many of the tips before from professors and other artists, I like reading it all together. I particularly found the 3 basic questions (pg 20) something that I have and will continue to use, although the process of writing about myself/work is always difficult.
The other smaller sections discussing marketing, branding, logos, email addresses and so forth was a bit motivating in a way, but it has been something that I felt I wasn’t ready for. However since they are things that can help make a stronger webpage and help grow my network of peers, it may be time to start considering and working on them.
I am enjoying this book so far…
